Spec. Forrest John Waterbury
Wamego – Army Specialist Forrest John Waterbury, 25, of Wamego, was killed in action on March 14, 2007, in the Ambar province west of Baghdad, Iraq.
Spec. Waterbury was born on May 30, 1981, in Longmont, Colorado, the son of Steve and Barbara (Parker) Waterbury. The family moved to Texas where he graduated from BF Terry High School in Rosenberg. Following high school, John entered the military and served his basic training in Fort Knox, Kentucky and was later assigned to A-co. 2-70th Bn. out of Fort Riley for six years. Spec. Waterbury was an M1A1 Abrams tank crewman and was also assigned to a unit based at Fort Stewart, Georgia. He had served two tours in Iraq with his 2-70th family. John was serving his third tour of duty in Iraq when he was killed.
John married Christi Michaud on December 3, 2004, in Junction City, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his Grandfather Parker, and his sister-in-law, Jamie Michaud.
Along with his wife, Christi, and his parents, he is survived by his son, Wesley Michaud and one brother, Christopher, of Richmond, Texas.
Funeral services for Spec. Waterman will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 24, 2007, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, March 23, at the funeral home.
