Fae Maurine Taggart, 96, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center of Wamego.
Fae was born August 30, 1914 in Clay Center, KS, the daughter of Anton and Clara (Boynton) Anderson. Her family later moved to Topeka, KS, where she graduated from Seaman High School. On February 6, 1936, she married Paul D. Taggart in Manhattan, KS. Paul preceded her in death in 1980.
Fae was a homemaker, but was very involved in the Wamego community. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wamego, United Methodist Women, volunteered often at the UMW Thrift Shop, and helped to start the Wamego Senior Center. She also worked at Carlton Heating and Plumbing in Manhattan as a bookkeeper for several years, and assisted in the office of the Stewart Funeral Home for many years.
Fae is survived by one daughter, Dixie Hoogendoorn and her husband Ray, of Wamego, KS; two sons, Jerry Taggart and wife Jan, of Zeandale, KS, Phil Taggart and his wife Barbara, of Wamego, KS; a son-in-law, Jack Zeller, Oxford, NC; and one foster-son, Don Weeks, Milford, KS. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Margaret Ella Taggart, Sandra Clare Zeller; and a sister, Myrtle Weeks.
Funeral services for Mrs. Taggart will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Wamego City Cemetery.
