Jeffrey Alan Myers, 47, of Manhattan, Kansas passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan after a 26 year long struggle with multiple sclerosis.
Jeff was born May 21, 1963 in Ulysses Kansas, the son of Harvey and Wilma Myers. He attended Ulysses schools, graduating from Ulysses High School in 1981. He attended Emporia State University and Oklahoma Baptist University. Jeff worked as a computer programmer.
Jeff loved to attend services at Trinity Baptist Church in Wamego, Kansas and Faith Evangelical Free Church in Manhattan, Kansas. Jeff enjoyed reading, sports (especially KSU), music, studying the Bible, Mexican food, and most of all spending time with his family and friends. One of Jeff’s favorite scriptures was I Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”
He is survived by the mother of his children, Jannis Bremer of Manhattan, KS; his three children Sarah Myers of Kansas City, MO, Lindsey Myers of Manhattan, KS, and Joshua Myers of Manhattan, KS; his parents, Harvey and Wilma Myers of Wamego, KS; his sister, Lisa Myers of Katy, TX; brother in-law, T.J. Simons of Katy, TX; his aunts and uncles, Bob and Lorine Myers of Ulysses, KS, Dawn and Judy Gaff of Caney, KS, Joe and Sharon Budion, Sylvania, OH, Bob and Becky Bates of Dodge City, KS, Earl and Mildred Ponder of Union, MS, and Pat Popejoy of Cordell, OK; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Memorial services for Jeff will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 27th at Trinity Baptist Church of Wamego, KS. According to Jeff’s wishes his body was donated to medical research through MedCure. The family suggests memorials to the medical mission group Sarah volunteers with, AMIGA, or Josh’s youth group at New Hope Church, which may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
