June Maxine (Markley) Maring, 89, of Wamego passed away Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at Meadowlark Hills Retirement Community in Manhattan, Kansas.
June was born June 28, 1921 in Waldo, Kansas, the daughter of A.L. “Roy” and Thelma (Cooper) Markley. She graduated from Luray High School and Fort Hays State University with a teaching certificate. She married William “Bill” Maring on February 2, 1952 at the Fitzsimmons Military Chapel in Denver, Colorado. He passed away in 1987. After retiring from 21 years of civil service at Fort Riley, June worked for 12 years at K-Mart. She moved from Ogden, Kansas to Wamego in 1973, where she was a resident for nearly 38 years. June enjoyed woodworking and gardening, and was a huge K-State sports fan.
Her survivors include: her 2 sons, Michael William Maring and wife Leeann of San Antonio, TX and James Glen Maring of Wamego; her daughter Elizabeth “Ann” Maring of Wamego; 2 grandchildren: Loren Maring and Caitlyn Autry and fiancé Chris; step-granddaughter Holley Glover and husband Mike; 2 step great-grandchildren: Bailey and Will; and her 2 sisters: Clova Peck (Wilbur), Luray, KS and Ila Siemers, Russell, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with a visitation preceding the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will be at Vincent Cemetery in Luray, Kansas.
