Ida Mae Tingley, 89, a longtime resident of Wamego, Kansas, passed away in Joplin, Missouri on Thursday, January 6, 2011.
Ida was born June 30, 1921 in rural Putnam County, Missouri the daughter of Orrin and Minnie Martha Ellen (Myers) Harrington. She attended the Unionville, Missouri schools. On July 9, 1936 in Unionville, Missouri, Ida was united in marriage to Thomas Clifford Tingley. They lived in Iowa before moving to live in Wamego in 1977. Thomas preceded her in death in 1982.
Ida was a loving homemaker and also worked for several years at the Tradewinds Supper Club in Wamego. She enjoyed crocheting and quilting, going to yard sales, working in her yard, baking and socializing with her visiting friends while sharing coffee and cookies she had baked. She also enjoyed taking many walks in the neighborhood and the city park that was right out her backdoor.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Kay Brock of Topeka, KS, and Paula Gehlken and her husband Larry, of Joplin, MO; a grandson, Robert Gehlken and his wife Heather, of Nevada, IA; one great-granddaughter, Amanda Gehlken and numerous nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Choate and Marie Harrington.
Funeral Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego with a visitation preceding the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in Wamego City Cemetery.
