Charles "Lloyd" Banks

Charles “Lloyd” Banks, 93, of Wamego, KS, passed away January 27, 2011 at the Westmoreland Community Care Home. Lloyd was born August 30, 1917 near Belvue, KS to his parents, Charles H. and Jennie Helm Banks. He graduated from Wamego High School in 1937. On March 30, 1944, he married Ruth Zabel at the First United Methodist Church in Topeka, KS. Lloyd was a farmer and stockman, and he lived on the same farm his entire life. Lloyd was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wamego for over 65 years, serving on many church boards. He also served multiple terms on the Belvue School Board, the Belvue Drainage Board and as a Belvue Township Trustee. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ruth of the home, his daughters Connie (Bill) Kauer of Manhattan, KS and Nancy (David) Parker of Plano, TX and his son Chuck of Topeka, KS. Six grandchildren Jennifer (Robert) Kubin of Springfield, MO, Brian Kauer of Great Bend, KS, Michael Parker of Houston, TX, Katie Parker of Manhattan, KS, Ashley Banks of Lawrence, KS, Laura Banks of Topeka, KS, and one great grandchild. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Dora Banks McCoy, and a brother, Dwight Banks. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 10am at the First United Methodist Church in Wamego. Mr. Banks will lie in-state beginning at 1:00pm Monday, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, where a visitation will be from 5pm until 7pm. Burial will follow at the Wamego Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Lloyd’s name for the First United Methodist Church of Wamego and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
