Alma-Alice Sophia LaMar, 98, passed away Monday April 9, 2007 at the Alma Manor.
Alice was born November 30, 1908 the daughter of Conrad and Marie (Buntte) Mathies on a farm north of McFarland. She attended school in McFarland. Alice was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in McFarland. On June 8, 1929, Alice was united in marriage to Eugene (Gene) LaMar. They lived in McFarland until 1953 when they moved to Topeka. Alice was a homemaker all of her life. Gene preceded her in death after 76 years of marriage.
Alice was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by: her daughters, Norma Haefke and husband John of Alma, and Johanna Beadle and husband Terry of Pompano Beach, FL; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and four step grand-children;
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday April 14 at St. John’s Lutheran Church of Alma. A visitation will be Friday evening from 7:30-8:30 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home of Alma. Mrs. LaMar will lie in state at the funeral home Friday at 1:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Memorial Hall and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, P.O.
