Harold A. Reigle, 86, a resident of Wamego, Ks, passed away Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland, Ks. He had lived in Wamego since 1964.
Harold was born March 30, 1921 in Hermitage, New York, the son of Rev. Frank A. Reigle and Rev. Amy McDillon Reigle. He graduated from high school in Alexander, NY in the class of 1938. Following school, he served as a Radio Operator in the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving his country in the Atlantic, European, and Asian Pacific Theatres of war.
On May 28, 1945, Harold married Frances Beryl Rundell, at Batavia, NY. She survives. During the years following his military service, he completed courses from the National Radio Institute, American Piano School, Berean Bible College, and attended Wichita Business College. His life’s work was a combination of television, radio and electronics repair. He also was very skilled at repairing and restoring pianos, reed organs, and player-pianos. He also worked in Christian Ministry, serving as pastor at the Wells Creek U.C.C. and Wabaunsee Beecher-Bible-Rifle Church and playing the organ at both churches for many years.
Harold’s faith in God and his love of his family were most important to him. He enjoyed fishing, boating, music, camping and photography.
Survivors include his wife Frances, of Westmoreland, Ks; two daughters, Phyllis Funk and her husband Doug, of Berryton, Ks., Pat Hatfield and husband Jerry, Ames, Iowa; two sons, Steve Reigle and wife Vicki, Sioux Falls, SD., Rick Reigle and wife Sandy, of Belvue, Ks;, one sister, Amy Griswold, NY.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Francis Reigle.
Funeral services for Mr. Reigle will be held Thursday, April 26, 2007 at 1:00 p.m., at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, with Rev. Lynn Roth officiating. Burial will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery. He will lie in-state Wednesday beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to support research that has afflicted the love of his life, Frances, who resides at Westy Community Care Home.
