Alma-Carol R. Schultz, 69, a lifelong resident of the Alma, KS area, passed away Tuesday May 8, 2007 at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka.
She was born August 19, 1937 in McFarland, KS, the daughter of Eugene H. and Anna Gnadt Muckenthaler. Carol attended Mcfarland and Alma Lutheran Grade Schools and Alma High School.
On November 2, 1952, she married Keith E. Shultz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Alta Vista, KS. He survives of the home. Carol was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church of Alma, KS, and had previously attended St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Alta Vista and taught Sunday school there for several years.
Carol was a devoted mother and wife to her family. She was a homemaker, and after her children were raised, opened the Excellent Care Day Sitting for children from 1985 until 1989. She then worked for the Alma Bakery and was a Para Educator in the Alma Grade School for several years. Mainly, she always helped her husband Keith working on the ranch. Carol enjoyed sewing and took pride in her cooking. She liked gardening and flowers. Most of all, she cherished her time with her family, especially the younger children.
Survivors include her husband Keith, of the home; two daughters, Deb Lind and her husband Richard, of Wamego, KS, and Cindy Appenfeller, of Alma, KS; one brother, Calvin Muckenthaler, Wamego, KS; two sisters, Mildred Luther, Ohio, Nadine Pierce, Illinois; six grandchildren, Jason, Rachael, Erin, Autumn, Leah, and Elyse; and seven great-grandchildren, Marinna, Connor, Cedric, Charlee, Colin, Sophia, and Anna. She was preceded in death by a brother, Don Muckenthaler.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12 at St. John Lutheran Church in Alma. Burial will follow in the Templin Cemetery, near Volland, KS. Mrs. Shultz will lie in-state at the Stewart Funeral Home of Alma beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 11, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. John Church Memorial Hall Fund, or to the Terry C.
