Julia "Louise" Mccoy

Julia “Louise” McCoy, 86, formerly of the Wamego area, and later St. Marys, KS, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at the Westmoreland Community Care Home. Louise was born January 23, 1925 in Wamego, KS, the daughter of Walter A. and Cora L. (Knitter) Regnier. She attended Broderick Rural Grade School north of Wamego, and graduated from Westmoreland High School in 1943. During the war, she worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant and later at the Onaga Sewing Factory. She was united in marriage to Gerald E. McCoy on November 2, 1946 in Westmoreland. Together, they farmed and lived near Louisville for many years, before moving to St. Marys in 1973. Gerald preceded her in death on June 3. 1995. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. She enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, traveling, playing bingo and visiting casinos. She mostly enjoyed time with her dear friends, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include her two sons, Daniel McCoy and his wife Arlene, of Millington, NJ, Jim McCoy and his wife Melinda, of St. George, KS; one daughter, Bertha Jackson and her husband Jerry, of Topeka, KS; one brother, Walter Regnier, Medford, OR; eight grandchildren, Ronnie Randall, Tony Jackson, Sheri Jackson, Nikolas McCoy, Damin McCoy, Mackenzie McCoy, Kristof McCoy and Arek McCoy; and four great-grandchildren, Jordan Jackson, Lauren Jackson, Justin Jackson and Trenton McCoy. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy Randall; and six siblings, Erma Jean, Clifford, Julian, Chester, Gail and Reginald. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. McCoy will lie in-state at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego beginning at 1:00 p.m. Friday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 6:30 until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Westy Community Care Home and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
