Joseph "Joe" Henry Straub

Joseph “Joe” H. Straub, 84, of Belvue, KS, passed away Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Wamego City Hospital. Joe was born May 28, 1927 in Wamego, KS, the son of Theodore “Ted” and Margaret (Brockish) Straub. He attended Rural Dist. 82 Grade School and graduated from Wamego High School in 1945. Following school, he worked on his family farm as a farmer and stockman all of his life. Joe was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Hupe on September 3, 1948 in Wamego. She survives of their home. Joe was a very likeable person with a fun and jokingly sense of humor. He was always willing to help out a friend or neighbor in help. He was a very progressive farmer, never afraid to try new farming techniques or loan equipment to other area farmers. Joe was a member of the Kansas Cattlemen’s Association and attended the Louisville United Methodist Church. Other survivors include three sisters, Rita Muchenthaler of St. Marys, KS, Theola Bearman and Maxine Eichem, both of Wamego, KS; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Dale Straub and a sister, Pauline Ellis. Funeral services for Mr. Straub will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Family will greet friends during a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tue. until time of the funeral service. He will lie in-state at the funeral home on Monday from 2:00 until 6:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Louisville Methodist Church or to Community Health Ministry and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, 66547.
