Frances Judith Kent, 62, passed away at her residence on August 13, 2011, St. George, KS.
Frances was born to Dr. Elias H. Porter and Julie Abraham on July 16, 1949 in Chicago IL. The Family moved to California where Frances received her primary education and also received her AA in business from Santa Monica Community College. She was a very important part in the growth of the family business, Personal Strengths Assessment Service. She married Gregory Allen Kent and they later divorced. From this marriage, a son and her only child, Jason Matthew Kent survives.
Frances moved to Kansas in 1987 where she worked at various locations on the K-State campus in Manhattan while completing her education, receiving a BS in accounting in 1997. Her last employment was with the Sloan and Meier Surveying firm where she enjoyed her work until she became ill. Frances enjoyed training and showing dogs, watching old black and white mystery movies, horseback riding, and especially time spent with her family.
Frances is survived by long time companion of almost 18 years, Ronald Ince of St. George, KS; her son Jason Kent and his wife Kim, and grandson Aidan Kent, all of Clyde, TX. Also surviving is the Ince family who had adopted Frances as their own, Don and Jerry, David and Stephanie, Joey, and Jerry's mother Mary Thrash, and many friends and acquaintances.
Frances was a free spirit who was not afraid to speak her mind one of Gods truly unique creations she will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
As per her wishes, Frances was cremated. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18, 2011 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Inurnment will follow in the Valley View Memorial Gardens east of Manhattan. In Lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Manhattan Homecare and Hospice and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.
