Dolores “Dee” L. Sebree-Buettgenbach, 57, of rural Wamego, KS, went to be with the Lord Monday, August 15, 2011following her courageous and lengthy battle with cancer.
Dee was born January 8, 1954 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the daughter of James and Virginia Benjamin. She attended schools in Ohio and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1972. She arrived in Kansas in 1981 with her two young children when her car broke down and she was befriended by several people in St. George, where she decided to reside. In January of 2002, she married Steven C. Buettgenbach. He survives of their home.
Dee was a homemaker, loving wife and mother, and an avid gardener who loved nature and what God produced for her. A garden requires patient labor and attention. Plants do not grow merely to satisfy ambitions or to fulfill good intentions. They thrive because someone expended effort on them and that someone was Dee. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks and was always trying new recipes. These were just a couple of her many talents.
Survivors include her spouse, Steve Buettgenbach of Wamego; a son, Greg Sebree of New York; a daughter, Jennifer Hauser of Florida; her parents; one sister, Roxanna Smith; a brother, Jamie Benjamin; and five grandsons. Dee is also survived by a host of family and friends and her beloved dog Micki.
Funeral services for Dee will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, 2011 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the St. George Cemetery. Dee will lie in-state beginning at 4:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.. Memorials are suggested to the Good Shepherd Hospice House and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, KS, P.O. Box 48, 66547. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.stewartfuneralhomes.com.
