Beverly "Bev" Mae Culbertson

Beverly “Bev” Mae Culbertson, 77, of rural Wamego, Kansas, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011 at her home. Bev was born December 26, 1933 in Manhattan, Kansas, the daughter of Walter R. and Oma N. (Hubbard) Dockins. She attended school at Ashland Bottoms before attending grade school and high school in Wamego, graduating in 1951. On July 4, 1951 she married M. C. “Mac” Culbertson in Manhattan, he preceded her in death in 1996. Bev worked for USD #323, in St. George, KS for over 15 years as a bus driver and grade school secretary before retiring. Bev was a member of the St. George United Methodist Church. She enjoyed horseback riding with her family and friends. She also loved traveling, camping and playing cards. Bev loved snow and her favorite holiday was Christmas. Most importantly, she loved her grandchildren. She is survived by two daughters: Denise Pierce and husband Bob, of Zenda, KS and Renee Westgate and husband Jim, of Wamego, KS; one sister: Shirley Shaw and husband Don, of Wamego, KS; five grandchildren: Andy, Audi and Cody Westgate and wife Amy and Ashley and Justin Pierce and wife Robyn; five great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Mac. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at St. George Cemetery. A visitation and viewing will be held Thursday beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the graveside at Bev’s home, 4130 Flint Rock Rd, Wamego.
