June Martin Sain

June (Martin) Sain, 86, of Wamego, KS, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011 with her family by her side in Wamego. June (Martin) Sain was born June 21, 1925, in Union City, New Jersey. She was the daughter of Floyd and Elsa (Matthes) Martin, and the sister of Bill Martin. In 1956, June married John Paul Sain of Union City, NJ; he preceded her in death in 1979. While living most of her life in New Jersey, June enjoyed her senior years in Wamego. She moved to Wamego in 1994, where she formed many lasting friendships. June worked for 20 years as a clerk for the West New York, New Jersey Board of Education, Memorial High School and Public School #5. She also worked at US Army Post Fort Crowder, in Neosho, Missouri during WWII. June loved going out with family and friends, traveling, reading, dancing and shopping. She will be greatly missed by those who dearly loved her and her generous spirit. June is survived by her daughter, Janet R. Sain of Wamego, a son John Martin Sain, of Manhattan, KS and one granddaughter, Jessica Sain-Baird of Lawrence, KS. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John and brother Bill. June will lie in-state beginning at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, September 19, 2011 at Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. A visitation with family and friends will follow from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. Cremation will take place following the visitation.
