Muriel Frances McDaniel, 88, a longtime resident of Paxico, Kansas, slipped into the loving arms of her Lord on July 22, 2007, at the Alma Manor Care Home, Alma, Kansas.
Muriel was born on June 8, 1919 in Louisville, Kansas, the daughter of Maude Gertrude Campbell and Marion Edward Pinick. She was graduated from Wamego High School in 1937. Muriel married Harvey James McDaniel on November 17, 1937 and had lived in the Paxico are for nearly 60 years. During that time, she worked as a telephone operator and also as a grocery clerk at the Paxico General Store. She was also a member of the Paxico United Methodist Church. Muriel was a loving wife and mother as well as a beloved friend and neighbor, and will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure to know her.
Muriel is survived by her children, Harvey T. McDaniel of Paxico; Larry McDaniel and his wife Sandy of Topeka; Naomi Welde and husband Doug of Petersburg, Alaska; Karen Schrader of Alma; and Wendell McDaniel of Topeka; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, in 1987, and by a son, Francis A. McDaniel, in 2006.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 27, 2007 at 10:30 a.m., at the Bethlehem Cemetery on Snokomo Road south of Paxico. The Rev. John Austin of Peace United Church of Christ in Alma, Ks will be officiating.
