Colette Ann Altstadt, 87, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan. Colette was born on March 25, 1924, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of George and Mae Lundy. She graduated high school in 1942 before attending the Chicago Art Institute. Colette worked as an artist. She was a painter and sculptor and also taught art for many years. Colette was a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Lombard, Illinois. In 2007 Colette moved to Manhattan, from Chicago, to be closer to her family. She enjoyed gardening, reading, helping others and being with her family. Survivors include her daughter: Mae Feez, of Boling Brook, Illinois; one son: John Altstadt and wife Barb, of Manhattan, Kansas; two sisters: Doloris Guest of Prospect Heights, Illinois and Virginia Poschel, of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; five grandchildren: Michael and Katie Altstadt and Jason, Johnny and Jennifer Streetz and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother George. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church in Manhattan. Colette’s casket will be closed. Private family burial will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Ogden. In lieu of flowers, family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Isidore’s Catholic Church and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
