Wendell J. Eichem, 56, a lifelong resident of Louisville, Kansas, passed away following a short illness on Thursday, January 19, 2012 at Mercy Regional Health Center of Manhattan.
Wendell was born September 28, 1955 in Manhattan, Kansas, the son of Lester W. and Maxine J. (Straub) Eichem. He attended Wamego Grade School and Wamego High School. Most of his working career was with the Mayflower Moving Company, which he worked with for many years. He attended St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in his younger years, was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan, and loved cars. Wendell married Bonnie Smith in 1979, they later divorced. He then married Cheryl Robinson in 1988. She preceded him in death in 2000.
Wendell is survived by his son, William “Billy” Eichem and his companion Christina Pina, of Louisville, KS; two daughters, Robbyn Erickson, and Trishia “his Baby Girl” Cundy (David), all of Clarksville, TN; his parents, Lester and Maxine Eichem, of Louisville, KS; two step-children, Chris and Eric Robinson, of Independence, MO; two sisters; Vicki Ritchie (Charlie), of McFarland, KS, Martie Baker (Kevin) of Wamego, KS; a brother, Ted Eichem (Jeanna) of Westmoreland, KS; 6 grandchildren, Allison, Emma, Alexander, Tyler, Isabella, Elizabeth; and 5 nieces and nephews, Chuck, Michael, Rennee, Mathew, and Joceline.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. A visitation for family and friends will be prior to the memorial service from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Louisville Cemetery Fund and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
