Robert “Bob” E. Roscovius, 75, of Wamego, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 23, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House of Manhattan, KS.
Bob was born December 16, 1936 in Tomah, WI, the son of Edgar R. and Ella (Rosenow) Roscovius. He attended Reels Valley Grade School and graduated from Tomah High School in 1955. He enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War for 3 years. His main duty was to drive high ranking officers over the line into North Korea for consultations. After his duty in Korea he was stationed in Ft. Riley, KS, where he met his wife to be, Shirley Sue Fouraker. The two were married on May 27, 1959 in Wamego, KS and have lived in Wamego most of their lives.
Following his military duty, Bob worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Topeka, KS for 11 years and then worked at Kansas State University as G.M.R.T. for 16 years until his retirement. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church of Wamego. He had an interest in fixing anything that went wrong in the home and when his children had problems with their cars. Bob also loved to keep a beautiful lawn, and it upset him when he couldn’t work in the yard anymore after his illness kept him inside the home most of the time. He was a quiet and hardworking family man who especially loved his time spent with his children and grandchildren.
Bob is survived by his wife, Sue Roscovius, of the home; his son, Rex Roscovius (Christy) of Wamego, KS; five daughters, Debora Munson and Sandra Roscovius-Klumph (Don) all of Wamego, KS, Rhonda Roscovius and Brenda Nowakowski (David) all of Manhattan, KS, Belinda Rader (Mike) of St. George, KS; one brother, Merle Roscovius (Cheryl) of Tomah, WI; three sisters, Alice Prechel of Westby, WI, Arlene Waege and Joan Olsen both of Tomah, WI; one brother in-law, Dick Emden of Madison, WI, 16 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Ella; his sister, Lorna Emden; and 3 brothers-in-law, Norbert Prechel, Bob Waege and Ronald Olsen.
