Evelyn C. Mckay

Evelyn C. McKay, 90, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Monday, March 5, 2012 at her home in Wamego. Evelyn was born July 27, 1921 in Newport, Kentucky, the daughter and only child of Charles and Edna Breitenstein Woods. She graduated from Newport High School in 1939. Evelyn was united in marriage to George McKay on September 10, 1942 in Newport, Kentucky. He preceded her in death in 2007. Evelyn and George lived in Cincinnati, Ohio for over 50 years, where they owned and ran a business together. Evelyn was active in her church, scouts, and her daughter’s school activities. George and Evelyn moved to Wamego in 2004 to be close to their daughter. Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Linda Johnson and her husband David, Wamego; two grandchildren, Tyler Johnson and his wife Jennifer and Melissa Burt; and four great-grandchildren, Bridgette Johnson, Blake Johnson, Paxton Burt and Caden Burt. Private family graveside funeral services will be held Friday, March 9, 2012 at Wamego City Cemetery with Fr. John Pilcher officiating. Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego is in charge of arrangements.
