Clarence W. Saffell, 79, of Lathrop, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012 in Cameron, Missouri.
Clarence was born June 3, 1932 in Blockton, Iowa, one of five children, of Louis C. and Nellie (Cannoble) Saffell. Clarence graduated from Maryville High School and attended N.W. Missouri State in Maryville, Missouri.. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1952 until his discharge in 1954 with the rank of Corporal. On January 15, 1955 he married Norma Jean Brockish in Wamego, Kansas. She preceded him in death on October 27, 2011. Clarence and Norma owned and operated their family business, S&S Construction and Equipment, for over 30 years.
Clarence is survived by his two sons: Brad Saffell and wife Lisa, of Lexington, Kentucky and Greg Saffell of Hollywood, California; one sister in-law: Barbara Eckart of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one grandson: Ryan Saffell and wife Brittany of Huntsville, Alabama; two nieces: Kelly Eckart and Judy Bowser and two nephews: Chris and David Eckart. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law, Delbert Eckart.
A visitation for Clarence will be held from 2:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 30 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Graveside funeral services with military honors wii be at 3:00 p.m. at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery, Wamego. In leiu of flowers, memorials may be made to Comfort Care Hospice, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, KS, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
