Patricia "Patty" Rose Johnson

July 19, 1939 — April 8, 2012

Patricia (Patty) Rose Johnson, 72, of Wamego, Kansas passed away suddenly on Easter Sunday April 8, 2012 at Carrollton Baylor Hospital, in Carrollton, Texas while visiting her son and his family. Patty was born in Wamego Kansas on July 19th, 1939, the daughter of Paul and Marjorie Siebert. She attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School through 8th Grade and was a graduate of Wamego High School. After graduating from high school she worked at Wamego Drug Store. On, September 10th, 1960, Patty married Duane Charles Johnson in Wamego, Kansas, a marriage that lasted 52 years in body and continues in spirit. In March of 1968, her son Tony was blessed with the world’s best parents when God gave him to them. As that stage of her life began, she started and managed JD’s Appliance & TV for 44 years with her husband, Duane Johnson. She also helped start and manage her son’s businesses: Tony’s Ceramic Corner; Bones Bike Shop; and, later, Crosswind Project Management. Patty enjoyed working with flowers and other crafts, going shopping, going out with her friends for dinner, and keeping up with the lives of her son, Tony, and grandchildren, Nicole and Jacob. As one of the family said recently, they hung the moon for her. Some of Patty’s last events were seeing the kids sparring in martial arts class and enjoying Jacob’s sixth birthday events. Patty is survived by her husband, Duane Johnson of Wamego, Kansas; her son Dr. Tony (Bones) Johnson, her daughter-in-law Maria, her granddaughter, Nicole Rose, her grandson, Jacob Duane, of Carrollton, Texas; and her brother Robert (Bob) Siebert of Abilene, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday April 16, 2012 at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Wamego, with Fr. John Pilcher. Burial will follow in the St. Bernard’s Cemetery. Patty will lie in-state beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday with a rosary being recited at 4:00 p.m., followed by a visitation with family until 6:00 p.m. all at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Catholic Charities Adoption Program, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS, 66547.
