Gregory “Greg” Eugene Becker, 59, of rural Alma, Kansas, passed away Monday, April 30, 2012 at his home due to illness.
Greg was born December 4, 1952, in Eureka, Kansas, the son of Howard Eugene and Phyllis Phryne (Peacock) Becker. He grew up in Eureka graduating from Eureka High School in 1971. After high school Greg was drafted into the U. S. Army where he served for six years before his honorable discharge in 1978. Greg was stationed overseas in Germany for three years while serving in the military. After the military he returned home. In June of 1988, Greg married Chris (Koehn) Becker, she survives of the home. Greg and Chris moved to the Wamego and Alma areas in 1989. Greg worked in the construction business and oil field for 25 years before he retired due to his health. He loved going hunting, fishing and his horses. Most importantly he loved his family, kids and grandkids.
Greg is also survived by his two children: Krysandre Becker and husband Justin, of Manhattan, KS and Jeremy Becker and wife Joy of St. Mary’s, KS; one sister: MaeBeth Slead and husband Danny Joe of Eureka, KS; six grandchildren: Colbey, Amanda, Aaren, Alyssa, Bradley and Ashley and numerous nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Greg’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Private inurnment will be held at a later date. The family is asking that everyone dress casual. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Community Health Ministry or the Wamego City Hospital Foundation and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, KS, PO Box 48, 66547.
