Alice L. Shumaker

Alice L. Shumaker, 59, of Alma, KS passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center of Wamego, where she had been a resident for the last two years. Alice was born November 19, 1952 in Wamego, KS the daughter of Edward M. and Dorothy (Hall) Shumaker. She attended Alma Grade School and graduated from Alma High School in 1970. Alice worked as a C.N.A for over 30 years at Alma Manor, Eskridge Nursing Home, and Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center of Wamego. She was a past member of Peace United Church of Christ in Alma, and the Alma Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards with friends, bingo, crafting, helping the elderly, and was a very caring person always willing to help others. Alice is survived by two brothers: Francis Shumaker of Manhattan, and John Shumaker of Alma; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Betty Smith. Cremation is planned with private family services and inurnment in Alma City Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center Building Fund, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Alma, PO Box 126, 66401.
