John Edward Howard

John Edward Howard, 66, of rural St. George, Kansas passed away at his home on Saturday, May 19, 2012. John was born February 15, 1946 in Dallas, Texas, the son of William E. and Mary H. (Jones) Howard. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1968 with a BA in English. He worked for most of his career at KSU in the International Grain Program and was Director of the I.G.P. at the time of his retirement. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an accomplished mountain climber, having climbed over 17,000 feet to several mountain peaks. John is survived by four sons: Jonathan Howard, James Howard, Justin Howard, and Jason Howard, all of Victoria, Texas; and one brother, William E. Howard, Jr., of Cuero, Texas. Private funeral services will be held in Victoria, Texas under the direction of Grace Funeral Home of Victoria. Local services are entrusted to Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego.
