Anomi Evelyne Elder, 86, of Wamego, KS, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego.
Anomi was born November 20, 1921 at her family home near Wamego, the daughter of Fred, Sr. and Mary Ann (Elhers) Howard. She attended a rural grade school near St. George, KS. On April 23, 1941, she married Charles Herman Elder in Onaga, KS. He preceded her in death on May 8, 2004.
She was a homemaker and also ran a housecleaning service for many years. Anomi was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of Wamego, the Wamego Senior Citizens Center and Kaw Valley Heritage Club. She enjoyed playing bingo, gardening, and cooking.
Anomi is survived by nine children; Viola Lee and her husband, Jim, of Paola, KS, Bob Elder and wife, Mary Kay, of Wamego, Diana Elder, Colorado Springs, CO, Doris Mottern and husband Leonard, of Mifflinburg, PA, Carolyn Heptig and her husband Joseph, of Winfield, KS, Peggy Stultz and husband, Phil, of Wamego, Evelyn Fox and husband Gary, of Topeka, KS, Jim Elder and wife, Julie, of Westmoreland, Brenda Brazzle and husband, Rick, of Wamego, and a son in-law, Rick Cassidy, Offerle, KS; one sister, Hazel Kufahl, of Wheaton, KS; 27 grandchildren, Amy, Jon, Tami, Toni, Joshua, Jeffrey, Lindsay, Ryan, Jami, Jennifer, Bill, Shannon, Michele, Christina, Alicia, Alex, Eric, Scott, Melissa, Sara, Stephanie, Anja, Ashley, Tracy, Heather, Justin, Jessica, and 22 great-grandchildren, Courtney, Lucas, Alexis, Mackenzie, Adley, Trenton, Kyle, Elizabeth, Riley, Pierce, Courtney, Gavin, Alyssa, Ethan, Kennedy, Sydney, Johnny, Cole, Adriana, Aiden, Olivia, and Ryan. She was preceded in death by three daughters, Rose Jane Elder, Jeannetta Ann Elder and Judy Cathleen Cassidy, along with eight brothers and sisters, Alta McCarter, Geneva Blume, Viola Hoffman, Roy, Fred, Frank, Arvle and Delmar Howard.
