Georgia Ellen Cottle

Georgia Ellen Cottle, 98, of rural Belvue, Kansas, passed away at home on Monday, June 25, 2012. Georgia was born on September 26, 1913 one mile south of Louisville, Kansas on the family farm. She was the daughter of George W. and Lydia N. (Grutzmacher) Forrester. She attended Louisville Grade School and Wamego High School graduating in 1929. After high school Georgia earned her teaching certificate. Georgia married Raymond L. Cottle, on May 19, 1936 in Wamego. He preceded her in death. Georgia began teaching at the Wamego Grade School where she taught grades 1st-8th for 15 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Wamego, O.E.S., Porsche Club and Study Club. Georgia was very active in the community and helped start the annual 4th of July celebration and parade in Wamego and also helped with getting the city pool put in the park. Georgia is survived by her daughter: Marajo Ackley and companion Ray Brengman of Manhattan, KS; two granddaughters: Tanji Cassatt (Joe) of Belvue, KS and Taci Ackley of Sarasota, FL; one grandson: Tracy Ackley (Brenda) of Bettendorf, IA 7 great-grandchildren: Jake, Catrina, Jessica (Brennan), Shayne, Tyler, Shyanna and Alex; one great-great-granddaughter: Addison Day; two nieces: Nonavee and Arleda and two nephews: Odell and Shawn. Among her husband she was also preceded in death by two sisters: Aldene Weeks and Bernadine Taylor. A funeral service for Georgia will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego with the casket being closed. Cremation will follow her services. Georgia will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Sunday at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, where a visitation will follow from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Epilepsy Foundation, the American Kidney Foundation or the Wamego Friends of the Park and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
