Wamego- Louise Rose Rogge, 88, formerly of Wamego, Kansas, died Sunday October 14, 2007, at Aldersgate Village of Topeka, where she had resided since November of 1999.
She was born June 1, 1919, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Anthony and Mary (Skrypi) Nowakowski. She attended grade school in Scranton and also graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1936.
Louise married Wilber Ernest Rogge on February 8, 1947 at Ft. Meade, Maryland. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1999. While her husband was serving in the military, they lived in many places, including Heidelberg, Germany, Colorado Springs, CO, and then Clifton, KS from 1960 to 1984, before moving to Wamego, KS, where they lived from 1984 until 1999.
She worked as an expert seamstress and tailor in Scranton for several years, prior to being married. She enjoyed sewing, bird watching, and taking care of her yard and gardening.
Survivors include her son, David Rogge, Topeka, KS; daughters, Donnalee Maranville, Melrose, Florida, Mary Ellen Rogge, Knoxville, Tennessee; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be private, with burial at Fort Riley Cemetery. Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego in charge of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Aldersgate Village Residents Fund, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
