PAXICO- Glen Leo Lamb, 87, of Paxico, KS and formerly of Wamego and Westmoreland, KS, died Sunday, October 14, 2007 at his home.
Glen was born in Herrington, KS, on August 12, 1920, the son of James C. and Maude (Cowman) Lamb. He graduated from Lost Springs, Kansas high school in the class of 1938, and was a member of the Lost Springs High School Basketball team that won the Kansas State Championship in 1938. On February 5, 1944, he married Thelma “Gracie” Henry. She preceded him in death November 1, 2004.
He worked most of his life in construction and as a self-employed carpenter from 1970 until his retirement. On November 5, 1942, Glen enlisted in the US Army, and served during WWII in the 714th Tank Company as a tank driver during the Rhineland Campaign. He enjoyed reflecting on his time in the military and told many stories about it to his family. He also enjoyed tending to his cattle and his horses.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy Stauffer, of Westmoreland, KS; two sons, Ken Lamb, of Olsburg, KS, and Joe Lamb, of Paxico, KS; a daughter-in-law, Jane Lamb, St. George, KS; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Lamb and a sister, Florence Belton.
Funeral services with full military honors will be held graveside at Lost Springs Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2007. A visitation with family greeting friends will be held at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, Thursday, October 18, from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society, and may be sent in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, P.O.
