Ruby L. Simpson

Ruby “Marjorie” Simpson, 88, formerly of Wamego, KS, passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2007 in Kansas City, MO. Born on April 5, 1919 in Louisville, Kansas, she was the daughter of Nellie (Trotter) and Samuel Nelson Huey. Marge graduated from Wamego High School in 1937 and lived all of her life in the Wamego and Louisville areas. On January 2, 1946, she married Claude W. Simpson in Manhattan, Kansas. He survives in Kansas City, Missouri. Marge worked as a nurse’s aid at Wamego City Hospital in the 60’s and 70’s. She loved playing bridge with her bridge club. She was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church of Wamego, St. Luke’s Guild Hall, the Eastern Star-Wamego Chapter, Wamego Country Club and a Girl Scout leader for several years. Her survivors include: her husband, Claude, of the home; her daughter Claudia Barwick and husband Jerry of Kansas City, MO; her son Sidney Simpson and wife Glenda of Kansas City, MO; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her 12 siblings. Funeral Services are 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 23rd, at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Wamego with burial following in Wamego City Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. at Stewart Funeral Home.
