Alice Lula Wille Rischer

Alice L. Rischer, 94, of the Wamego and Belvue, Kansas area, passed away late Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Westy Community Care Home in Westmoreland, KS. Alice was born on the family farm near the Wells Creek area in Wabaunsee County, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Amanda (Buchmeier) Bahner. She attended grade school near Wells Creek and attended Paxico High School for one year. She married Raymond Henry Wille in 1934, he preceded her in death on October 21, 1965. She later married Donald Rischer on March 9, 1973. Don preceded her in death on August 29, 2002. She was a member of the Wells Creek United Church of Christ and the Wamego Senior Citizen’s Center. For several years in the 1950’s, she worked at O.B. Larson and Sons in Wamego and also worked at J.C. Penny in Manhattan for several years following Raymond’s death. She enjoyed needle work, sewing, crocheting, and playing cards. She always seemed to win most of the games of pitch. Survivors include her daughter in-law, Shirley Wille, of San Antonio, TX; one step-son, Darold Rischer and his wife Sue, of Gulf Shores, AL; one brother, Ben Bahner and his wife Marilyn, of Topeka, KS; a sister in-law, Anna Bahner, Belvue, KS; 3 grandchildren, Michael, Brian and Timothy Wille; 2 step-grandchildren, Cynthia Howerton and Brad Rischer; 2 great-grandchildren, Jacob and Sophia Wille; and 2 step-great-grandchildren, Jack and Lily Rischer. She was preceded in death by her son, Melvin Wille; 4 brothers, Lester, Carl, Raymond Howard and Alfred “Dutch” Bahner, and her sister, Josephine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 12, 2007, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Rischer will lie in-state at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m. Sunday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Wells Creek U.C.C. or the Wamego Senior Citizens Center.
