Wamego- Hallie Osburn, 104, passed away peacefully Friday morning December 7, 2007 at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego.
Hallie was born on April 20, 1903 in a two room rock house in Dickinson County, Kansas to Harvey and Villettie (Perkins) Osburn. She was the last of four brothers and two sisters. Hallie spent her life in care of her parents. She loved animals and at one time had turkeys, chickens, cows, pigs, etc. She was talented with sewing and liked to play the violin and piano. Hallie was a member of the Stuphen Mill Christian Church in Dickinson County. She taught the children’s Sunday school class there for many years. She had been a resident of Wamego since 1978. On April 20th, Hallie celebrated her 104th Birthday. She was known for her bright smile and good sense of humor.
She is survived by several nieces, Glenna Osburn of St. George, KS, Roberta Hoerman of Wichita, KS, Hallie Frances Fulmer of Colby, KS, Maryellen Holdren of Broomfield, CO, and Connie Fechter of Belvue, KS; and her nephews Leighton of Benson, AZ, and Ronnie Holdren of Broomfield, CO. She was preceded in death by her brothers William, Roy, Glen, Emil and Ernie and sisters, Irene Westergart and Vernie Taylor.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday December 10, 2007 at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego with burial following in Wamego City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at 1:00 p.m. A memorial has been established in Hallie’s name for Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center Resident’s Fund and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
