Larry Dean Holz, 47, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. Larry was born on June 20, 1965 in Wamego, KS the son of Clyde William and Dolores Ann (Breymeyer) Holz. He grew up in Wamego graduating from Wamego High School in 1983. After high school Larry attended Kansas State University, graduating with a B.S. in Animal Science Industry in 1988. On August 29, 1987, Larry married Elsie Marie Haug, in Manhattan, KS. She survives of the home. During college Larry was a student trainee at Farmers Home Administration in Manhattan. After graduation he then went to work for them in Meade, KS. In 1992 he and his wife moved back to Wamego where he went to work at First National Bank until 1999, where he then began working for 1st National Bank of Alma which became Gold Bank of Alma and later became Stockgrowers Bank. After five years Larry went to work for Landmark Bank in Wamego. Since 2007, Larry has worked for USDA Rural Development. Larry was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Wamego, a Knights of Columbus member, past member of the K.B.A., a Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity member at KSU and was on the Wamego Sports Booster Club and Wamego Chamber of Commerce. Larry loved spending time with his family and kids. He was always there attending his children’s sporting events, teaching them life lessons and being a great father. He had a great sense of humor. He was an avid Kansas City Chiefs, Kansas State Wildcats and Wamego Red Raiders fan. Among Larry’s other survivors are his two sons: Ethan Holz and Bryan Holz; his daughter: Shelby Holz, all of the home; his mother: Dolores Holz, of St. Marys. KS; four sisters: Deborah Eichem and husband Jerry, of Paxico, KS, Brenda Wurtz, of Shawnee, KS, Cheryl Holz, of Topeka, KS and Janell Hurla and husband Rick of Paxico, KS; one brother: Steven Holz and wife Teresa, of Wells Creek, KS; 14 nieces and nephews, two great nieces and 1 great nephew. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde in 2006. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Larry will lie in-state at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m. Monday, with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. The family will greet friends during a visitation following until 9:00 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Holz Children Education Fund or P.R.N. Home Health and Hospice of Wamego and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
