Norma R. Brooks, 83, of Silver Lake, KS, passed away, Friday, October 12, 2012 at Aldersgate Village, in Topeka, KS.
Norma was born on January 22, 1929, in Topeka, KS, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Sutton) Dinkle. She attended schools in Topeka graduating from Topeka High School. On November 22, 1947, Norma was united in marriage to George Brooks, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2012.
Norma worked as a supervisor and hostess at the Holiday Inn West, in Topeka for 35 years before retiring at the age of 74. She loved gardening, traveling and flowers. She enjoyed going on bike rides and was an amazing cook and always enjoyed having a houseful of her grandkids. She attended Bethel Community Church.
Norma is survived by her three daughters: Karen Fletcher of Fountain Hills, AZ and her children: Heather Wilson (Rob) and their sons: Shane and Zach Wilson and Jason McRoberts; Martine Stephan (Craig) of Scottsdale, AZ and her son: Beau Yeoman and Kim Martin (Lawrence) of Auburn, KS and their children: Luke, Reily and Jayde Martin; 2 sons: Rodney Brooks (Brenda) of Boise, ID and their sons: Mitchell and Andrew Brooks and Dudley Brooks (Melody) of Lee’s Summit, MO and their daughter: Megan Brooks and one sister: Becky Lumley and husband Harry, of Cave Creek, AZ. Norma was also preceded in death by a sister: Mary Knight and two brothers: Dan and David Dinkle.
A funeral service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2012 at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. Burial will follow in the Belvue Township Cemetery, Belvue, KS. A visitation for Norma will be Sunday evening from 7:00 p.m.–8:30 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego.
