Daniel "Dan" Robert Clark

Daniel “Dan” Robert Clark, 68, of rural St. George, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012 at the Stoneybrook Retirement Community in Manhattan, Kansas. Dan was born January 4, 1944, in San Diego, California, the son of Aaron W. and Gladys L. (Mann) Clark. He attended St. George High School before joining the United States Army where he served in Vietnam. After the military Dan returned home where he worked as a carpenter. Dan was a member of the Carpenter Union, Blackjack American Legion and the Carpenter Local #918 of Manhattan. He loved being outdoors. He loved hunting, but his favorite hobby was fishing. He was a great fisherman and would spend every free second he had out fishing. Dan is survived by two daughters: Daneen Planchon of Quartz Hill, CA and Rosanna Hagan and husband Brenton of Hays, KS; one son: Daniel Cooper and wife Kimberly of Elkhart, TX; four brothers: Marvin Oppenlander and wife Judy of St. George, KS, James Clark of Wamego, KS, Thomas Clark, of Long Beach, CA and Lee Clark and wife Sue of St. George, KS, 13 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Graveside services for Dan will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at the St. George Cemetery with military honors. A visitation will be held prior from 10:00 a.m. until the graveside service at the Stewart Funeral Home, Wamego. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daniel Clark memorial to be designated for Veterans P.T.S.D., and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS, 66547.
