Elaine Ann Simmer, 76, of Wamego, KS passed away Sunday, January 27, 2008 at Mercy Regional Health Center in Manhattan.
Elaine was born the daughter of Arthur E. and Clara (O’Keefe) Junod on January 21, 1932, in rural Nemaha County north of Onaga, KS. She graduated from Centralia High School in 1949.
On August 9, 1951, she married Robert J. Simmer in Coal Creek, Kansas. He survives of the home. Elaine moved with Robert to Wamego in 1951, where they raised their family and she worked from the mid-1970’s for over 15 years in her upholstery shop making fine draperies and upholstering furniture.
She is survived by her husband Bob, of Wamego, KS; her children and their spouses, Ed Simmer of Wamego, KS, Frank Simmer and Wanda, of Parkville, MO, Coleen Falk and Mark, of Alma, KS, Tom Simmer and Maxine, of Hiawatha, KS, Pat Simmer and Sandy, of Wamego, KS; 9 grandchildren, Shawn, Chad, Josh, Jared, Robin, Heath, Luke, Colby, Dalton; and 6 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Mike Simmer in April, 1997, and two brothers, Arthur Dale Junod and Richard Dean Junod.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 31 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Simmer will lie in-state at the funeral home beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, where the family will greet friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Terry C.
