Michael “Mike” Dee Howard, 60, a lifetime resident of Louisville, KS, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Deseret Health and Rehab Center of Onaga.
Mike was born on December 13, 1952 in Westmoreland, KS, the son of Fred Howard, Jr. and Marjorie (Prockish) Howard. He attended Louisville Grade School and graduated from Wamego High School in 1971. He married Sheri Arnold Johnson on December 1, 1994 in Westmoreland, KS. She preceded him in death in April of 1995.
Mike worked as a truck driver for Prockish Trucking for many years and later for Kershaw Redi-Mix, until his health kept him from working. He enjoyed his Harley-Davidson motorcycles, hunting and fishing, spending his time outdoors and visiting the ocean and beaches. He especially cherished his time with family and friends.
He is survived by his sister, Karen Worden and her husband Rex, of St. George, KS; her brother, Kevin Howard and his wife Kristi, of Louisville, KS; his nieces and nephews: Joe Worden, Lisa Worden, Rebecca Woolard, Melisa Howard, and Shayna Howard. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ron Howard.
Funeral services for Mr. Howard will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Westmoreland City Cemetery. He will lie in-state beginning at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Stewart Funeral Home, where a visitation will be held from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to the Huntington’s Chorea Research Fund, or to the Pottawatomie County Caring Hearts Humane Society, and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
