Karen Deanne (Buatte) Filbert, 55, of Havensville, KS passed away Jan. 17, 2013 at Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan, KS.
Karen was born in Manhattan, KS on February 17, 1957, the daughter of Larry & Frances Buatte of Manhattan, KS. She graduated from Manhattan High School in 1976. Following high school, Karen enlisted into the U.S. Army and served most of her military career in Germany until her discharge in 1981. Karen worked for many years for the Pottawatomie County Sheriff Department as a dispatcher and also for the County Attorney’s office until she retired recently.
Karen is survived by her husband Clancy Filbert of Havensville, KS; her children Kevin (Grace) Prince of Franklinville, NC, Rebecca (Joel) Lamb of Franklinville, NC; grandchildren, Olivia & Corey Prince and Kristan, Laci, and Reece Lamb. Karen is also survived by her stepdaughters, Katie (Scott) Watkins of Leavenworth, KS, and Cassy (Jake) Pennington of Leavenworth, KS; step-grandchildren Darienne & Dalton Watkins, Ariana Bradford, Mary Rose & Luci Pennington.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego with Pastor Michael Schmidt officiating. Military honors will be served at the memorial service.
