Marjorie Smith Demaree

Marjorie Smith Demaree, 94, passed away on Saturday, February 23, 2008. at Hospice House, Kansas City, MO. Marjorie was born on September 6, 1913 in Topeka, KS, The daughter of Lewis and Flora Smith. Marjorie was a graduate of Topeka High School and Washburn University. She married Jay Demaree in October, 1954. Marjorie was a retired Federal Employee of the Department Of Selective Service. She was a member of Halema Chapter #230 of Eastern Star and a long time member of the Unity Church. Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Freda L. Pitney and her husband Jay Demaree. She is survived by Patricia Pitney Smith, niece of Overland Park, KS and Jerome S. Pitney, nephew of Wamego, KS; seven great nieces and nephews, ten great, great nieces and nephews and two great, great, great nieces. A service of remembrance will be held on Thursday February 28, 2008 at 6:30 p.m, at Overland Park Place. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday February 27, at 11:30 a.m. in Wamego City Cemetery, Wamego, Kansas. A visitation will be held at Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego prior to graveside services Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice, 10100 W.87th St. Suite 100, Overland Park, KS 66212.
