Jeanne Louise Mckenzie

Jeanne L. McKenzie, 54, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at St. Francis Health Center in Topeka, Kansas. Jeanne was born on June 26, 1958 in Horton, Kansas the daughter of John B. and Alberta “Bert” M. (Moritz) Uhlrich. She graduated from Wamego High School in 1976 and after attending Kansas State University she received an Associate’s Degree in computer programming from Port Huron Community College. On July 1, 2005 Jeanne married Alexander McKenzie at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Wamego. He survives of the home. Jeanne enjoyed ballroom dancing, KSU football and basketball games, NASCAR, needle pointing, traveling and reading. She loved cooking and was an amazing cook. Being around her family was most important to her. Jeanne was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Wamego Study Club. Survivors also include her parents: John and Bert Uhlrich of Manhattan, Kansas; one sister: Beth Ann Uhlrich of Manhattan, Kansas; two brothers: Mark Uhlrich and wife Kristin of Las Vegas, Nevada and Jay Uhlrich and wife Lori of Topeka, Kansas and her nieces and nephew: Rylee, Luke and Lauren Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Wamego. Jeanne will lie in-state Monday beginning at 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 6:00 p.m. followed by a visitation until 8:30 p.m. all at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Columbian Theatre and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
