Gene's family will be holding a memorial service Saturday April 5, 2008 from 7-9:00 p.m. at the Family Worship Center on Highway 24 in Wamego. Come join the family for a sharing of memories.
Wamego- Gene L. Dugan, 79, lifetime resident of Pottawatomie County, passed away Wednesday morning February 27, 2008 at his residence in Wamego.
Born on November 2, 1928 at home in a log cabin west of Wamego he was the son of Joseph E. Sr. and Julia (Picolet) Dugan. In 1951 Gene married Eunice M. Carr in Westmoreland. He was employed with Goodyear Tire in Topeka for 33 years. Gene loved to cut wood and he loved to go fishing on the river bank. He also enjoyed mowing and gardening and was famous for his cantaloupe. Gene was an honorary member of the Assembly of God Church of Wamego. He and Eunice shared nearly 57 years of marriage together.
His survivors include: his wife, Eunice of the home; his daughters, Debra Honaker and husband Jim of Newton, KS, and Joanne Hercules of Wamego, KS: his sons, Carey Dugan and wife Gwen of Wamego, KS, Wayne Dugan and wife Bonnie of Perry, KS, Leslie Dugan and wife Carole Lea of Walton, KS, and Edward Dugan and wife Cynthia of St. George, KS; his brothers, Kenneth Dugan and wife Barbara of Crescent Valley NV, and Joseph Dugan Jr., and wife Ida of Zap, ND; his sister Lola Anderson and husband Neale of Belvue, KS; and his fourteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Gene was preceded in death by his parents and an infant daughter Letha.
Graveside Funeral Services for Gene will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday February 28, 2008, in Louisville City Cemetery. There will be no formal visitation. A memorial has been established in Gene’s name for Assembly of God Church of Wamego or PRN Home Health Hospice and contributions may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, 66547.
