Mabel Helen Feyh

Mabel Helen Feyh, 95, of rural Alma, Kansas passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mabel was born March 14, 1918 in Wells Creek, Wabaunsee County, Kansas. She was the daughter of Christian and Emma (Holz) Breitschwerdt. She grew up in the Wells Creek area and on October 2, 1936 she married Harold R. Feyh. Mabel was a homemaker. She was a founding member of the McFarland Senior Citizens Center, a 4-H Leader and was active in the Women’s Guild at Peace United Church of Christ in Alma. She was currently a member of the Prairie View Community Church in Alma and in her youth was a member of the Wells Creek Church. She loved cooking, quilting, sewing and crocheting. She also taught many of her granddaughters how to crochet. Mabel was a card player and loved the game of Pitch. She was very proud of her German Heritage. Mabel will mainly be remembered for the love and care she gave to her family. Mabel is survived by her husband: Harold; her three sons: Rudy Feyh and wife Carol of Alma, KS, Francis Feyh and wife Margaret of Wamego, KS and Ron Feyh and wife Phyllis of Battlefield, MO; two daughters: Joyce DeVader and husband Leonard of Lone Jack, MO and Janice Bonini and husband Charles of Ponce Inlet, FL; 20 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her two brothers: Adolph and Leo and one sister: Sylvia Bowers. Funeral services for Mabel will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow at the Peace United Church of Christ Cemetery in Alma. Mabel will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday with a visitation being held from 6:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Stewart Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the McFarland Senior Citizens Center, P.R.N. Hospice or Community Health Ministries and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
