Gloria Vada Lindenmuth, 86, recently of Wamego, Kansas, but formerly of Scott City, Kansas passed away Monday, June 3, 2013 at her residence in rural Wamego.
Gloria was born on July 19, 1926 in Sawyer, Kansas, the daughter of Bert and Emma (Banker) Buck. She attended schools in Sawyer, graduating from Sawyer High School before attending Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, graduating with a degree in Art. After college Gloria moved to Scott City, Kansas in 1949 where she began teaching Art. While living in Scott City, Kansas she met Everett Lindenmuth. They were united in marriage on June 4, 1955 in Scott City, Kansas. Everett preceded her in death in 2005.
Gloria taught for the Scott City school district teaching Art and 4th grade for 39 years before retiring in 1988. After her retirement Gloria moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2006 to be closer to her family. She then moved to rural Wamego, Kansas in 2012. Gloria was a member of Eastern Star, United Methodist Women and a past member of Scott City First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed quilting, china painting, calligraphy and going fishing and camping, but mostly loved spending time with her friends and family.
Gloria is survived by her daughter: Lorie Lindenmuth and her significant other, Lennie Hoover of Roca, Nebraska; one son: Dr. Lance Lindenmuth, DDS and his significant other, Julie Bloom of Clatonia, Nebraska and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Everett and all six of her siblings.
Gloria’s wishes were to be cremated. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date at the Scott City Cemetery. The Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, Kansas was in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are suggested to the Scott City First United Methodist Church, 412 College St., Scott City, Kansas 67871.
