Wamego- Robert “Bob” L. Harrison, 66, passed away Thursday April 3, at Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego
Born on November 19, 1941 in Beeville, Texas, he was the son of Robert and Loretta (Downey) Harrison. Bob joined the United States Airforce after graduating from Wamego High School and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War from 1961-1968. He then served in the Kansas Air National Guard until August 1970. In 1969, he married Rosemary Worden and they later divorced. Bob worked at Kansas State University for many years then Peterson Labs Pathology Department for several years. He later worked for different drywall contractors before retiring in 2003 due to illness. He loved the outdoors and fishing. He even earned the nickname, “Catfish Bob”.
He is survived by: his mother, Bernice Harrison of Wamego, KS; his sons, Rob Goertz and wife Angie of Buhler, KS, and Robert Harrison and wife Cathy of Alton, IL; his daughter, Patricia Cox and husband Jimmy of Godfrey, IL; his brothers, Bruce and Kenny Harrison both of Topeka, KS, and Ronnie and Delbert Harrison, both of Manhattan, KS; his sister, Patti Ebert of Onaga, KS; and his grandchildren, David, Jarrod, Laura, Robert, Ryan, Matt, Rachelle and Taylor. He was preceded in death by his father
A private inurnment will be held Monday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday afternoon at Stewart Funeral Home in Wamego from 12:30-2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions have been established in Robert’s name for the Wamego High School Alumni Association and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P.O. Box 48, Wamego, 66547.
