Florence “Aldean” Clark, 87, of Wamego, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 15, 2013 in Wamego.
Aldean was born December 25, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Clyde H. and Grace (Todd) Botkin. She graduated from Wichita East High School in 1943 and also from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing of Wichita in 1945. She worked as a nurse at Wesley Medical Center following her graduation until 1951. She then married Laurence A. Clark on December 31, 1951 in Wichita, and decided to stay home and raise her family. Laurence preceded her in death in 2007.
She was a past member of the Church of Christ in Harper, KS, a member of the Harper Bridge Club, and the K.V.B. Heritage Club of Wamego. She was one of the very first residents of Grandview Suites in Wamego, and was always involved in many activities there. She enjoyed and appreciated the fine-arts and old movies, and loved to travel in Great Brittan.
She is survived by; one son: Rev. Fritz Clark and his wife Jan, of Wamego, KS; one daughter: Lauren Kaine, of Charlotte, NC; a daughter in-law: Brenda Clark, of Olathe, KS; five grandchildren: Amy, Adam, Emily, Holly, Eric; eight great-grandchildren: Austin, Brittney, Andrew, Christopher, Lucas, Owen, Jade, and Blanche. She was also preceded in death by her son, L. A. Clark; and her sister, Virginia Ownby.
Funeral services for Aldean will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in Wamego City Cemetery. Mrs. Clark will lie in-state beginning at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday with family greeting friends during a visitation from 7:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Wamego Community Health Ministry for medical services, and may be left in care of Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego, PO Box 48, 66547.
