Harold Eugene Raine

Harold Eugene Raine, 80, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Vintage Park at Wamego. Harold was born August 30, 1932 in rural Pottawatomie County, the son of Harry W. and Florence R. (Helm) Raine. He grew up on the family farm and attended schools in Wamego, graduating from Wamego High School in 1950. During high school he was a charter member of the National Honor Society. After high school Harold attended Kansas State University, before joining the United States Navy in January of 1952, where he served in the military until his honorable discharge in December of 1955. After the military Harold returned home to farm the family farm in rural Wamego. On April 8, 1956, Harold was united in marriage to Cleta Delores (Shultz) Raine at the First United Methodist Church in Wamego. She survives of the home. Harold and Cleta lived in rural Wamego, where Harold continued to be a farmer his entire life. Harold also worked at Kansas State University as a Procurement Officer in the Purchasing Department and was a charter member of Kansas Association of Public Purchasing Professionals. He worked for Kansas State University for 28 years before his retirement in 1996. Harold was a member of the Wamego First United Methodist Church, the Wamego Masonic Lodge #75 and a past member of K.A.P.P.P. Harold is also survived by his two sons: Michael Raine and Bryan Raine and wife Shelly all of Wamego; a sister-in-law: Merna Raine; one granddaughter: Sasha Raine; three foster grandchildren: Laela, Alize and Anthony; a niece: Janet and a nephew: Duane. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother: Francis “Lloyd” Raine. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 6, 2013, at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery with military honors. A visitation will be held prior to Harold’s service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wamego First United Methodist Church-Building Fund or the Johnson Cancer Research Center at KSU and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
