Betty J. Ebert, 74, of Flush, Kansas, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 14, 1939, in Flush, Kansas, the daughter of Eugene and Genevieve (Prockish) Dekat. She grew up in Flush and graduated from Flush High School. On March 2, 1957, Betty was united in marriage to Delbert Ebert at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Flush. He survives of the home. Betty was a homemaker and farm wife for many years before becoming a fraternity cook for the Pi Kappa Alpha House at Kansas State University for 24 years. She was an organist for the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and played numerous weddings, funerals and celebrations for almost 60 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, canning, playing cards and fishing. Most importantly she loved spending time with family. Betty was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Flush and the St. Joseph’s Altar Society. She is also survived by her children: Kathy Plummer and husband Dwaine, of Flush, KS, Ron Ebert and wife Ruth, of Flush, KS, Debbie Swoyer and husband Steve, of Wamego, KS, Shirley Zoeller and fiancé Wayne Eichem, of Flush, KS, Cindy Kabriel and husband Larry Jr., of Manhattan, KS, Brian Ebert and wife Jennifer, of Frankort, KS and Janette Heath and husband Jason, of Westmoreland, KS; three brothers: Dennis (deceased wife Mary Ellen), Carrol (Carleen) and Damian (Rae Diane) Dekat; two sisters: Mary Ann Potter (Robert) and Rita Mailen (Edward); 17 grandchildren with two on the way and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Loran Dale. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 18, 2013, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church of Flush. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Betty will lie in-state beginning at 1:00p.m., Wednesday at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. and a visitation to follow until 9:00 p.m. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Altar Society, for the purchase of Flush picnic frying equipment or to the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, for the purchase of new playground equipment and may be left in care of the Stewart Funeral Home, PO Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
