WAMEGO- Loreen A. Thomas, 92, of Belvue, Kansas passed away Thursday, April 17, 2008 at Winchester, Kansas.
Loreen was born November 6, 1915 in Onaga, Kansas, to Philip and Leah Rossier Cosandier. She graduated from the public schools in Onaga and the University of Kansas, where she received a B.S. degree in Business Administration. While at KU she was a member of Phi Chi Theta professional business sorority and was awarded the Phi Chi Theta scholarship Key presented each year to the outstanding woman in the School of Business.
Loreen was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church, a 50 year member of the Onaga Chapter No. 71, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Wamego Study Club for over 45 years, Vermillion TCE, and a life-member of the KU Alumni Association.
She married Lloyd O. “Tommy” Thomas on August 5, 1939 in Onaga, Kansas. Together, they operated their family farm near Belvue for 52 years. He preceded her in death on December 9, 2002.
Survivors include a son, Paul L. Thomas, San Diego, CA; a daughter, Lou Ann Thomas, Oskaloosa, KS; a sister, Lucile M. Berges, Great Bend, KS; one grandson, David Thomas, Minden, Nev.; and two great-grandsons, Mathew and Dakota Thomas.
Funeral services for Mrs. Thomas will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow in the Wamego City Cemetery. The family will greet friends during a visitation at the funeral home on Sunday, April 20 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
