Phoebe Mae Blume, 90, of Wamego, Kansas, departed this life, Friday, August 9, 2013, at the Valley Vista Good Samaritan Center in Wamego, Kansas.
Phoebe was born on November 17, 1922, the oldest child of Louis and Rose (Sebring) Wege. She attended country schools in the area before graduating from Westmoreland Rural High School as valedictorian of the Westmoreland High School class of 1941. On November 10, 1941 she was united in marriage to Guy William Blume in Topeka, Kansas. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Phoebe was baptized in the Wamego United Methodist Church and attended church at an early age. She loved nature in all of its glory, worked with flowers and loved animals. Her main hobby in later years was crocheting. Many items show her talent in this area. She loved to cook, bake, can and make pies, gooseberry being among her favorites. Phoebe wished to be remembered by the thought, “Leave room in my garden, for angels to dance.”
Phoebe is survived by one sister in-law: Ruby Pauley and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers: Alvin and Dale Wege and one sister in-law: Dorothy Wege.
Funeral Services for Phoebe will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at the Stewart Funeral Home of Wamego. Burial will follow at the Wamego City Cemetery.
