Ronald “Ron” Dean Stevenson, 62, of Manhattan, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at his home.
Ron was born on June 19, 1951 in Maryville, Missouri, the son of Paul and Christena (Miller) Stevenson. The family moved to Manhattan, Kansas in the fall of 1967, where Ron attended Lee Elementary School. He later graduated from St. George High School in 1969. After high school Ron worked several jobs, before working for Kansas State University in the Grain Science Department as a milling technician. He worked at Kansas State University for 31 years before retiring just last month. Ron enjoyed horses, being outdoors and spending time with his family and friends.
Ron is survived by his mother Christena, of Wamego, KS; a daughter: Marnie Clayton and husband Gene of El Paso, TX; two sisters: Martha Williams of Wamego, KS and Debra Ledet of Southlake, TX; one brother: Larry Stevenson of Wamego, KS; two grandchildren: Brennen and Bryan Clayton; two nephews: Todd and Chris Collins and two nieces: Lauren and Alyson Ledet. He was preceded in death by his father Paul in 2009 and two nephews: Paul and Mason Ledet on October 6, 2012.
Ron’s wishes were to be cremated. A private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. George United Methodist Church and sent in care of Stewart Funeral Home, P. O. Box 48, Wamego, KS 66547.
